Emergency ambulance service

We respond to emergency calls and provide ambulance assessment, care and transport when patients need us.

How we respond

Calls are received by the emergency operations centre. Information is assessed and ambulance resources are coordinated according to the needs of the incident and the resources available.

Ambulance crews assess patients, provide care and arrange onward treatment or transport where needed.

Working with other services

We work with hospitals and other public services during emergencies, serious incidents and major incidents so that patients receive coordinated care and support.

Specialist response

Specialist teams support incidents requiring additional clinical, operational or resilience capability. Find out more about specialist operations and resilience.
