NHS 111 is for urgent medical help or advice when the situation is not a 999 emergency.
How the service works
111 contact is assessed so that the person can be directed to the most appropriate available care or advice. The service is distinct from 999 emergency ambulance response.
If it is a life-threatening emergency
Use the emergency route instead of 111.
